Recording what you've earned

When did you earn this money? Click on the right month name. (If you can't see it, click on one of the arrows at the right-hand end to move the list left or right). 

On the left-hand panel, click on Enter Income  

When this panel appears, fill in:

  • The date when you got the money
  • The name of the customer who paid it. (If you've entered their name before, just click on the arrow and pick it out from the drop-down list.)
  • Your invoice number (if there is one - for bank interest there won't be!) If you don't have an invoice number then choose your own, starting with 1. truly simple will remember the last number and will then automatically create the next number for you. If you do not need this you can delete it or write over it.
  • The total amount (figures only -- don't add a pound sign!)If you are VAT registered then put the total including VAT, truly simple will work out the VAT for you. If you need to, you can delete or over write the VAT figure.

At the bottom, choose the type of income (Sales or Bank Interest). If it's another kind of income, just type the name into the box. If you do this, the program will add this income type to the list. Next time you'll be able to choose this name again just by clicking the arrow at the right-hand end of the box and choosing the name from the drop-down list.

Note: it's a good idea to keep interest payments separate from other kinds of payment in this way.
Finally, click on Enter Receipt, and the details will come up on the main page.
